Olympic Weightlifting is a sport in which the
participants lift weights off a barbell. Some famous Olympics
weightlifters are Xia Yang, Nurcan Tylan, Yanqing Chen, Xiamon Chen,
Chunhong Liu, Natalia Zabolotnaia, and Gonghong Tang.
Olympic Records in Weightlifting - Women
- Yanqing Chen of China holds the current Olympic record in
women's 58 kilogram weightlifting event. She picked up 237.5
kilograms in 2004 Athens Summer Games.
- Xiaomin Chen of China holds the current Olympic record in
women's 63 kilogram weightlifting event. The record was made in
the 2000 Sydney Summer Games where she lifted a weight of 242.5
kilogram.
- Chunhong Liu of China holds the current Olympic records in
women's 69 kilogram weightlifting, 69 kilogram-snatch and 69
kilogram-clean and jerk events. The event was the 2004 Athens
Summer Games when she lifted a weight of 275.0 kilogram in the
69 kilogram event. In the 69 kilogram-snatch and 69
kilogram-clean and jerk events, she picked up 122.5 kilogram and
152.5 kilogram respectively.
- Nurcan Tylan of Turkey holds the current Olympic records in
women's 48 kilogram weightlifting and 48 kilogram-snatch events.
The event was the 2004 Athens Summer Games where she lifted a
weight of 210.0 kilogram in the 48 kilogram event while in the
48 kilogram-snatch, Tylan picked up 97.5 kilogram.
- Xia Yang of China holds the current Olympic records in
women's 53 kilogram weightlifting, 53 kilogram-snatch and 53
kilogram-clean and jerk events. The event was the 2000 Sydney
Summer Games where she lifted a weight of 225.0 kilogram in the
53 kilogram event. In the 53 kilogram-snatch and 53
kilogram-clean and jerk events, she picked up 100.0 kilogram and
125.0 kilogram weights respectively.
- Natalia Zabolotnaia of China holds the current Olympic record
in women's 75 kilogram weightlifting event. She lifted 272.5
kilograms weight in 2004 Athens Summer Games.
- Gonghong Tang of China holds the current Olympic record in
women's 75+ kilogram weightlifting event. She lifted 305.0
kilograms weight in 2004 Athens Summer Games. She holds the
Olympic record for 75+ kilogram-clean and jerk event where she
lifted 182.5 kilogram weight.
- Pawina Thongsuk of Thailand holds the current Olympic record
in women's 75 kilogram-clean and jerk event. The event was the
2004 Athens Summer Games where she lifted a weight of 150.0
kilogram.
- Natalia Skakun of Ukrain holds the Olympic record in the
women's 63 kilogram-clean and jerk event. She lifted 135.0
kilogram weight in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
- Anna Batyushko of Belarus is the holder of current Olympic
record in women's 63 kilogram-snatch. In 2004 Athens Summer
Games, she lifted a weight of 115.0 kilogram in the event.
- Meiyuan Ding of China holds the Olympic record in the women's
75+ kilogram-snatch event. The record was attained in the 2000

- Wiratthaworn Aree of Thailand is the holder of the current
Olympic record in women's 48 kilogram-clean and jerk event. The
record was made by in the 2004 Athens Summer Games when she
lifted 115.0 kilogram weight.
